One of the definitions of concretization is “to give a tangible form to”. Art is based on this; we take an emotional or experiential past of ourselves and give tangible form to it.
My journey in art started as a young boy, growing up on a ranch. My grade school teacher’s son drew a horse for me. I did not connect that incident with my deep desire to be an artist until much later in life.
Through a challenge by a college rodeo friend, I discovered sculpting. Once involved in the process, I came to the realization that this gift had all the parts necessary to fulfill itself.
Bringing a split second to a standstill, realizing all of the energy in that second and bringing it to a form excites me as an artist.
I hope it will do the same for you.
